**COURSE DESCRIPTION:**
By the end of this training program, students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of a rigger on a work site. Safety is a priority throughout the program, addressing both general site safety and specific safety concerns related to rigging practices and working around mobile cranes. The program covers the techniques and equipment required to lift loads of varying weight and shape, ensuring that students can perform their duties safely and competently.
**COURSE OUTLINE:**
– **Unit 1: Site and Rigging Safety**
– Focuses on general site safety and specific safety measures for rigging and lifting operations, ensuring employees are safe while performing rigging duties.
– **Unit 2: The Components of a Lift**
– Covers the components of a lift, both above and below the hook, including the significance of each component and the concepts of SWL (Safe Working Load) and WLL (Working Load Limit).
– **Unit 3: Characteristics of a Load**
– Teaches how to determine load characteristics, including weight, balance, and center of gravity, to rig the load correctly and select appropriate equipment.
– **Unit 4: Connecting and Adjusting Equipment**
– Provides information on various types of equipment used to connect loads to lifting equipment, ensuring employees can identify and use them correctly.
– **Unit 5: Manual Hoisting Equipment**
– Covers different types of manual hoisting equipment and their uses, ensuring employees can move loads manually when required.
– **Unit 6: Slings and Hitches**
– Focuses on identifying different types of slings and hitches, and understanding their uses in lifting operations.
– **Unit 7: Rigging Calculations**
– Teaches how to determine stress and loads on each component of the lift, enabling the correct selection of equipment to ensure a safe lift.
– **Unit 8: Basic Crane Operations**
– Provides a basic understanding of crane operations and communication with crane operators, ensuring effective interaction with the lifting team.
**COURSE OBJECTIVES:**
By the end of this training program, students will be able to:
– Perform rigging duties safely.
– Understand terms, equipment, and procedures commonly used in basic rigging and lifting operations.
– Adhere to Saudi Aramco Standards and International Codes of Practice.
